MEMORY OF AN ADJACENT PLACE
From the overt sublime of cloud shrouded mountains to a more subtle romanticism offered by transient plays of light and colour on more familiar forms, the paintings are all the result of exultation and wonder of the natural world; a world which needn’t be far removed from our urban lives.
Referring to the geographical proximity of the subject to the city of Adelaide and referencing the paintings as a recollection of a place and moment, In Memory of an Adjacent Place, acknowledges that any return to a specific location will inevitably reveal a new experience no matter how familiar that place may be. The forces converging to create one moment can never exactly repeat.
BMGArt, Adelaide. 6-28 August 2010
