DOORS OF THE SKY

The Horizon. An illusion of the imagination, a portal to something other. The Sky is not so much a place, but an expression of the ethereal, a freedom in which all is possible; a dual identity, both empirical and subliminal. Potent with ancient realms and the charge of distributing its most precious jewel, water, we increasingly look to the heavens for not only for the dreams it offers, but the security it bestows. A security drifting from us as the sky reforms, manifests anew. The power above becomes increasingly apparent and ever more sublime as the music of the circadian rhythm to which we dance is rewritten.

The Mountain and the Sea, the Lake and the River, are Sanctuaries of the two skies, thresholds through which the transcendent can be felt. From the caress of a cloud upon the summit, to a glint in a pool upon the beach, the other can be experienced. Intertwined and inseparable the land pressures the sky, as the sky sculpts the land. Gathering libation offered by the sea and held by the winds, the peak is fashioned by the river, doubled by the lake and all are received by the sea. Yet the great dome is not of our kind, we can only watch from our harbours, in suspense and dreaming, breathing through the doors of the sky whatever is offered.
